Summer Tan Officially Gone? A Bronze Biologic Spray Tan Looks Like the Real Thing
We associate so much pleasure with being out on a sunny day that it’s no wonder tanning is still popular, despite the dangers to our skin. Bronze coloring has been a beauty standard for the past century.
To get the look and avoid the ultraviolet (UV) risks, spray tans are easily the safest option to keep skin healthy. And when the days start to cool and the tan goes away, this tanning alternative lets you enjoy the skin tone you want.
If you’re looking for that perfect tone even after summer has given way to fall and winter, check out the bronze biologic spray tan offered by Dr. Javier Zelaya and his team at Skinworks Dermatology, with three New York City locations.
Spray tan basics
As the name suggests, spray tanning uses a solution, with dihydroxyacetone (DHA) being the main ingredient, sprayed on your skin to achieve your preferred skin tone.
DHA is a sugar compound that interacts with your skin to help give it the desired bronze finish. The color you end up with depends on how much DHA is present in the spray-on solution. It can take 1-3 days to see the change in your skin after a spray tan visit.
Because the DHA solution is applied to the top of your skin, the tan doesn’t last long, generally up to 10 days. Different formulas may result in different durations.
