Does CoolSculpting Permanently Destroy Unwanted Fat?

Weight problems are a common source of frustration and health issues, and millions of people find it challenging to shed excess pounds. That can be due to many causes, including genetics, medical conditions, and lifestyle decisions.

Even if you clear these hurdles, it may seem impossible to shed the last bit of weight.

CoolSculpting®, also known as cryolipolysis or fat freezing, can remove stubborn fat cells to help you get the look you want. But how long do the results last?

If you’re trying to shed stubborn pounds and want to learn more about CoolSculpting, visit Dr. Javier Zelaya and the team at one of Skinworks Dermatology’s three New York City locations.

CoolSculpting basics

Diet and exercise are vital for weight loss, but some areas of the body are more resistant to weight loss than others. FDA-approved in 2012, CoolSculpting is a noninvasive treatment that targets areas of the body with controlled cooling to eliminate fat cells.

CoolSculpting is a common treatment, with millions of procedures performed globally. It can eliminate stubborn weight in your abdomen, thighs, upper arms, sides, and chin.

The process can last up to three hours depending on your needs, with little to no recovery time.

Understanding the process

Cryolipolysis works because of the effect that cold temperatures have on fat cells. Exposure to extreme cold damages these cells, leading to an inflammatory response from your body that kills and removes those cells from your body.

We place a gel pad on the targeted area to protect your skin, then use a hand-held device to target the fat cells under the skin within a temperature range of 30.2-39.2℉. You experience cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and other sensations briefly as the area becomes numb.

How long do the effects last?

Your body has a finite number of fat cells, which expand when you gain weight. CoolSculpting crystallizes and eliminates the targeted cells, getting rid of them permanently

However, any weight gain after the treatment can cause the remaining cells to expand and lead to similar problems. Once we help you lose those last few pounds, eating well and keeping yourself in shape are the best ways to maintain results for years.

CoolSculpting is a great way to end the weight loss journey for people close to their goal, but you still must keep your weight under control to guarantee long-term results.
